About the Otago Branch, NZ Law Society

We are a branch of the New Zealand Law Society under the
Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006. Our membership comprises those lawyers within Otago who have elected to be members of the New Zealand Law Society.
Our role is to:

  • assist members in matters relating to the practice of law in Otago;
  • to discharge the Society's statutory functions to the best of its ability;
  • to protect members of the public through advocacy of proper standards of competency, and professional integrity on the part of its members.

Recommendations on the regulation of professional matters are made by the Audit & Practice Committee pursuant to:
